Dear readers,
I just wanted to wish everyone heartfelt Thanksgiving joy. It’s not an easy holiday, combining travel, logistics, catering and whatnot. Just remember that next year it doesn’t have to be this way.
For me, I am playing hostess to my parents, 3 cousins who have moved to America from Korea in the past 2 years and their spouses, an orphan from my office, someone’s brother-in-law, two babies and 1 dog. 10 people who speak Korean, 2 who do not and 3 who can’t speak at all. Should be interesting.
The menu will be a very traditional American feast with turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread/sausage stuffing, cranberry relish, carrots, broccoli, fruit compote and pumpkin pie.
I am excited if not half-crazed from cleaning up cat vomit from my kitty off of everything.
It’s not been a frugal experience just yet. Not with three tablecloths from Target to decorate the tables, a new set of dishes that have not arrived so we can have service for 12. We are borrowing extra chairs from a friend, but laughably, some folks might have to have salad forks and plastic forks for the dessert course.
I’m just happy that we’ll have a fun time and some good pictures.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Missed your posts MFC! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and try to keep sane with all the stuff thats going on around you.
Best wishes for a successful Thanksgiving feast!! I definitely know how stressful doing the whole family, traditional feast, house cleaning for company thing can be. Try to find some moments to sit down, take a breath, and enjoy the family (and if you can do that without stressing about that spot of kitty vomit you missed that you just saw out of the corner of your eye, even better!!)
This year we’re doing T-day with my mom and dad who live out here near us now – but to keep it simple and stress-free, mom’s doing some of her great from-scratch pizza, and Dan’s doing a couple of his great pies. I’ll load the dishwasher!! Ahhhhhh. Sometimes it’s good to let go of the tradition!!
Sending positive, CALMING, super-hostess energy your way in 3…..2……1….
