2010 Charitable Plans

by mapgirl on October 19, 2009

I just did a renewal of my corporate charitable contribution. It’s $1,200.00 again. I decided not to change it higher amount so I could stay focused on my debt payment goals. (Or any goal really.)

My charities stayed the same, the local health clinic and food bank. I know that the recession is supposed to be getting better, but this jobless recovery has me thinking skeptically. I’m just not sure that the next year will be dramatically better.

What about you? Are you renewing your commitment to charitable giving or scaling it back?

Planning to give about the same. Possibly more, depending on how things work out. Micah’s earning a little more this year, so most of that’s going to debt repayment stuff, but we’ll have some left for charity and fun things.

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do on the giving side. I’ve made some contributions already, but both time and money have been tied up in travel and helping out friends/family. Still, I can do better.

I’m going to have to keep it the same. In a sense they will increase, because I will be better about having my employer match my donations.

Same here! Trying to do $100/mo. but to different places since I don’t have 1 main one I’m that passionate about. Will probably pick those which are important to others and that way I’m helping friends & charities :)

I have scaled back in monetary contributions and have increased my volunteering efforts!

Last year I gave $1,100. My goal is always $1,500, but I never make it. I’m on track to give $1,300 this year, mostly to The Actor’s Fund.
