I don’t normally get a lot of questions. But I try to answer them when I do.
Kelly from The Centsible Life asks, “Did I see shopping bags on Saturday night?”
Why yes you did. They had the boots, my clothes, mooncakes (2 boxes), a wool shawl, knitting, and my purse in that ginormous Steve Madden reusable shopping bag. My boyfriend laughed when he saw it because it’s so large. Not sure what else I will use it for. But I definitely was a walking advertisement for them.
SFOrdinaryGirl from SF Money Musings asks, “Can you share any of the tips on shopping for boots?”
Not really. It depends on what I am seeking. If I want something fashionable, I might want to get faux leather with plastic heels and spend less than $100. If I want something that I know will last, I’ll spend $200 without a thought, but insist on all leather soles, uppers, etc. In general when I shop for shoes, I look for stuff that is stitched vs glued, but if a shoe is glued but I like the style, I might buy them anyway.
More than anything, I like the calf to fit (which is hard because my calves have gotten thinner because I stopped running for school), and the heel to be modest. The fit has to be comfortable enough to stand around in a club for 5+ hours. (Go Doc Maartens!)
SFOrdinaryGirl also asks, “Do you have any other strategies at the Asian grocery stores?”
I think this was in context of buying fish. I don’t buy fish as Asian grocery stores. They’re far away from where I live. I did write a post many years ago about shopping in Asian grocery stores.
