My new winter coat was an utter disappointment. The camel colored I selected was just a shade too yellow. The wool was sort of thin and didn’t actually feel like it was going to keep me warm. Nor was it lined with Thinsulate as an extra layer, so I returned it. (Thank god Sears takes Lands’ End returns.)
I also took back a pair of sandals I got on sale because I wasn’t sure if I fit a 6 or a 6.5 half shoe. I’m kind of sad about that since it was a muted red pair, but I’m left with a really nice brown pair.
So I’ve got about $150 in refunds coming towards me, but I really need to find a replacement coat soon since I took my old coat to Goodwill this weekend.
Oh. Sunday was a No Spend Day too. I forgot about that.

That’s a bummer about your coat. I usually have luck with coats at Macy*s. I just wait until there’s a sale and then shop to my heart’s content (within a certain budget of course). I’ve had luck with finding shorter/petite-sized coats there as well, though I would love to be tall enough to wear a floor-length coat and not look like a kid dressing up in her mom’s coat!
That’s disappointing – Lands End usually has good quality items. I was happy when Sears started taking the Lands End returns – saved me from repacking the box and going to the post office. I would return things due to fit, never had an issue with quality.
Kathleen – You are so right about Macy’s. I love going there for coats during clearance, but I’m afraid to wait till January. I did browse their website, but I didn’t see anything currently within the budget that I wanted. (i.e. what I wanted was like $300!! haha)
Really I know where to go if I want a coat now, but I have to make a special trip to C-Mart, which is where I got the previous coat.
