I broke down and bought a sub for lunch on Thursday. ($4) Then I went to meet the PF Blogger crew for happy hour ($21). Try as I might to rein it in, I leave a big tip and I try to ensure people are never shorted on the bill, especially after they complain on Twitter that they’re not ballin’ like the rest of the 22-34 age demographic in DC.
Craig from BudgetPulse called the venue, Union Jack’s in Ballston. The beer selection is pretty good there and the drink specials aren’t bad on Thursdays. ($2 domestic drafts, but I am a Guinness girl and quasi-UK/Irish bars.) The fish and chips sucks there, but I didn’t want anything else they had either, so don’t go there for the food. A bunch of us also tossed our hat into the ring for a free trip giveaway they run every hour. We thought someone in our group would have a decent chance at winning, but no such luck.
In attendance:
Debt Hater
Miel from DINKs Finance
Jericho Hill from Get Rich Slowly Forums
Brian from My Next Buck
J. Savings from Budgets are Sexy
Amelia from Amelia’s Healthy Life
Mrs. Micah
A friend of Jericho Hill I didn’t get a chance to meet
Random things I learned:
1. Pizza Delivery work pays pretty well by the hour. (>$20)
2. Someone is a Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech.
3. Someone’s been going to the gym and showed up with some big guns!
4. At least TWO people were at happy hours before ours!
5. Cthulhu is not common knowledge. (I spend too much time with gamers and geeks.)
6. Government healthcare is awesome.
8. I have pearl necklace envy.
I wish I worked closer to DC so I could attend more happy hours. I have really missed meeting up with everyone, chatting up blog ideas and laughing really hard. (These guys are really funny.)
