Surprisingly, I’m down by less than $500. I wasn’t expecting that after giving my mom a huge chunk of change for the roof on her house.
I could have booked an extra $1000 in cash as an asset because my renter gave me the rent check early before she left on vacation. But I wanted to play it more conservatively since the money was not owed till the 1st.
I’m happy for market rebounds and steady saving. The increased credit card debt is killing me, but my mom and dad are really happy with their new roof so the money was well-spent. I’m psyched to see what the new roof looks like since it’s part of the long-term family plan for sprucing up the house and maximizing the resale value.
Overall, I’m feeling good about being relatively flat for the month of August since it could have been worse in the final tally.

It does feel good to help out family when they need it. My step father of 33 years passed away very unexpectedly a couple of months ago and I was able to help out my mom by paying for the funeral. It was the perfect send off to a wonderful man and I am grateful that I had the emergency fund in place to do it. It renews my faith in my frugality!
From my point of view, it was great that you helped your parents. Thanks for being a good daughter. I like your site, I’ll be back again. I want to list your blog on my blogroll because it’s relevant to my main theme. Would you do the same for me?
