I don’t normally get a lot of questions. But I try to answer them when I do.
Kelly from The Centsible Life asks, “Did I see shopping bags on Saturday night?”
Why yes you did. They had the boots, my clothes, mooncakes (2 boxes), a wool shawl, knitting, and my purse in that ginormous Steve Madden reusable [...]

I had a great time at dinner. Mercer Kitchen was delicious. As mentioned in the comments, this dinner was sponsored by Intuit’s TurboTax. (Not particularly a product I enjoy, but I do love my Quicken, which is an Intuit product.) I had the butternut squash soup for appetizer and the seared scallop with pea green [...]

No, not from work this time. Generally, when something good happens, I shout,’Bonus!’
Last night I had dinner with my cousin, her husband, and her parents who are visiting from Korea. (My other cousin’s wife bore their first grandchild, always worth a visit.) Dinner was great and we got to play with their new puppy. At [...]

I’m very excited to go to New York City this weekend. The ostensible reason is for the NYC PF Blogger meet up that Flexo is coordinating at Mercer Kitchen on Saturday. But that was only the reason that drove me to finally book a visit upon two couples with new babies and another friend who [...]

It’s that time of year again when they train their volunteers. It’s great education and a rewarding experience to help others, ranging from county jail inmates, people on public assistance, kids in school, to women looking to maximize their financial knowledge. It’s good stuff!
This year’s dates:
Saturdays, November 7 and 14
10:00-4:00

Room 100

On my way back from Sears this weekend, boyfriend and I stopped by the DC Fish Market. It was was pretty easy to park this time. It was a sunny day and we bought three things, shrimp, red snapper, and oysters.
I poached the snapper for dinner on Saturday night. It was not the best preparation [...]

My new winter coat was an utter disappointment. The camel colored I selected was just a shade too yellow. The wool was sort of thin and didn’t actually feel like it was going to keep me warm. Nor was it lined with Thinsulate as an extra layer, so I returned it. (Thank god Sears takes [...]

I broke down and bought a sub for lunch on Thursday. ($4) Then I went to meet the PF Blogger crew for happy hour ($21). Try as I might to rein it in, I leave a big tip and I try to ensure people are never shorted on the bill, especially after they complain on [...]

Normally I do not bring up politics on this blog. I save my rants for other places. But Stephonee from Poorer Than You pointed this out on Twitter and it’s making me grind down my dental crowns in anger. This is an economic problem he has personally compounded by not voting for more transportation funding [...]
