Weekend Spending Report

by mapgirl on August 24, 2009

I had a successful No Spend Day on Saturday. I had spent the morning at home cooking and doing some light cleaning. I spent the late afternoon at a Pampered Chef presentation at a friend’s place. It was nice to catch up with some friends there, but I didn’t buy anything. Nor was there anything I really wanted to buy at the prices in their catalog. I took one home since some of their tableware matches our red/white theme, but boyfriend didn’t have anything he wanted either. I may buy a red and white serving platter for a whole chicken, but I don’t think I want to buy one for at least another month.

Sunday was a different story. Yet another trip to the farmer’s market. This time I picked up: a single tomato, a quart of yukon gold potatoes, a few jalapenos, green beans, and edamame. They were out of baguettes by the time we went. Boyfriend bought all of food today so I spent nothing till we went out to Wendy’s late night for vanilla Frosties ($4).

Boyfriend ran an errand to return some stuff to Home Depot and get a few things in exchange. So we didn’t spend much at all.

Friday night though was an entirely different matter. Basically we went to see Korean film downtown and we couldn’t find parking so we used a garage. Even with validation, that was $8 (boyfriend paid). I bought our tickets for $20. It kind of sucked to spend $30+ (boyfriend bought a soda at concessions) but unfortunately this film would be extremely hard to get with English subtitles. For some reason, Korean auteurs make painfully long films, so at least we got our cinematic money’s worth.

All in all, not that bad for the weekend. I think I spent $38 for three days. (Friday lunch was about $10.)
