Mrs Micah was our lovely hostess for the evening. She had on her jaunty cap and met us in the basement of The Brickskeller. It’s an institution in DC that holds the record for the most beers available.
In attendance:
Brian of Building Wealth Together
J. Savings from Budgets are Sexy
Craig from BudgetPulse
Mike from CleverDude
Mrs Micah
myself
I had a snack before I went out so all I got was a plate of onion rings to share and a fancy Belgian beer “The Duchesse”. It’s a tasty sour. Mike nailed it on the head when he said it was like balsamic vinegar. THAT IS EXACTLY what it’s like. Almost like a wine, with rich flavor and sour vinegary taste. It’s really great with food.
Total with tip $19. Parking was FREE! The trick in Dupont Circle area is to come right after 6:30pm when the No Parking restrictions end around all the embassies. Or else ride the metro, but I came straight from work.
I had a great time catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones. If you’re in DC, leave me a comment and I’ll add you to the informal list.

It was really great meeting you all last night. I surely learned a lot and i know its only the tip of the iceberg. I think you inspired me to go with the new car. Doing my research now! Then reading the links you sent.
Look forward to the next happy hour.
Does the Skeller still have yard beers?
KAD – I can’t drink a yard, so I have no idea.
Fun times as always last night and a good spot selection, really enjoyed the beers.
Neither can I — but I remember being astonished by the concept back when I was in college… :p
I’m thirsty again just from reading everyone’s recaps…although I wasn’t as adventurous as I maybe should have been
Sounds great, haven’t been there but have been meaning to. But what, no frugal catchup at someone’s house with some nice homebrews? Just kidding sounds like a good time. Although I would be curious to see what you guys talked about.
Sounds like fun – I’m sure it was a very frugal time with all you finance bloggers! Didn’t know Craig from BudgetPulse was in DC, too. I haven’t been to DC yet, amazingly (been to at least 24 other states), but hope to get there soon.
