Friday night was a quiet evening at home. I hadn’t been feeling well that morning so I worked from home. As soon as it was quitting time I started two loaves of bread for a dinner party Saturday night. I also ran an errand mid-day with boyfriend to pick up a magnum of my super favoritest cheap wine (Bella Sera Rosso 2005), a few groceries, gas for my car and sandwiches for lunch. Boyfriend got the groceries and wine (~$13) and I picked up our sandwiches ($11).
Saturday I spent most of the day at my friend’s place finishing a baby blanket for a friend. It’s nowhere close to being done. But I skipped lunch and held out for a dinner party at a friend’s place. Boyfriend and I stuffed our faces on some excellent cooking, beef stew, bulgar wheat pilaf, ribs, chicken skewers, jerk pork, green beans in coconut milk, chana masala and NY style cheesecake. Everything was made my our hosts except the BBQ sauces and a few of the side dishes that were brought by guests. I successfully had a no spend day! I’m excited because I think I’ve had at least one No Spend Day each month in 2009.
Sunday was almost a No Spend Day. I was at the Homespun Yarn Party at Savage Mill in Savage, MD. It’s literally an old millhouse that has been converted to retail shops. I ran into some of my knitter friends and had lunch and bought absolutely nothing else that day. That’s saying something because I watched my friends load up on yarns while we were there. In a bad economy, people are still finding ways to afford their personal luxuries. I suppose the pleasure of handknitting, coupled with a wearable garment makes yarn purchases more practical than other splurges.
At any rate, I have been working through my stash right now and I don’t see myself buying anything for my knitting hobby till I get my hot little hands on a nice lace pattern for some green wool/silk I’ve got. (The vendor who has the pattern I want did not bring them with her for the show. Bummer.)
So not bad for this weekend. I put on about 125 miles though in 3 days, which is kind of bad.

Hi! Your blog is very cool. I like how you spend, but you don’t spend…and still achieve a well-rounded life without blowing through excessive amounts of money.
As for your knitting, are you on Ravelry? There are so many patterns, and many of them are free.
Thanks for taking the time to blog!
