I had no idea this was happening, but I don’t get SSA funds so I wasn’t paying attention. From a memo I received regarding the one-time SSA payment provided in the stimulus bill:
In May 2009, Social Security will distribute a one-time payment of $250 to Social Security and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries nationwide. The payments are provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. A leaflet which discusses distribution of the one-time payment in greater detail is available at www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/10519.pdf
President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.
We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part.
We are currently working on the details regarding how we will issue nearly 55 million one-time payments to our beneficiaries.

This so-called stimulous money of $250.00 is an absolute disgrace. What exactly will $ 250.00 buy? I’ll tell you. It will not buy groceries for one month for one person. Yet, our money is going to make the creepy CEO’S richer by millions.
