My officemate is a nut. Everything is in little perfect containers in his drawer. It’s kind of OCD and crazy, but often there are gourmet chocolates from his wife’s store, so I don’t complain. (Christopher Elbow passion fruit caramels.)
I keep:
Chips of some kind (Cheez-Its, Sun Chips, Utz Salt & Pepper chips)
Mint chewing gum (must always be spearmint)
Cranberry juice (it’s so acidic it doesn’t need refrigeration before I finish it in a week.)
Granola bars (Nutty ones packed with protein)
Ensure (chocolate flavors are best. Never have vanilla)
TUMS for my teeth and tummy (chewing one after eating neutralizes acids to reduce tooth decay and it’s my calcium pill. And I eat some when I have gastric pains.)
Dental floss picks (Crest Glide brand. Best there is!)
The team I work with has coffee, tea, honey, sugar and creamer.
What about you?

My office is always stocked with a coffee, various teas, assorted milk & creamers, bagels, bread, English muffins, crackers, cereals, peanut butter, jelly, cream cheese spreads, and candy. There’s soda on an upper floor and we get beer on Fridays. I’m very lucky that I don’t have to bring in my own snacks or breakfast! It’s easy and a big money saver.
I have Oatmeal, Cereals, Pretzils, Gum, Candy, V8 Juice,Soup, Animal Crackers etc etc.
The day I saw vending machine charges almost 3-4 times the price of regular store price, I started stocking my own snacks. If you buy from Sam’s or other wholesale grocery store, you are saving big money!
Thanks
In my desk drawer, I usually keep: a baggie of assorted tea bags, granola bars, cans of V8, sometimes almonds or mini-bars of dark chocolate (for those afternoons I can’t seem to get through without a little extra sugar). I try to have a fruit or two but they stay on TOP of my desk where I can’t forget about them!
Lots of non-food items live in that drawer too: cough drops, lip balm, hand lotion, silverware and chopsticks, mug for tea. mini-pack of kleenex.
I didn’t realize you could safely leave cranberry juice out for that long. I might have to try it.
kat – Refrigeration is ‘recommended’ on the label, which means to me that it doesn’t have to be refrigerated unless you want it to keep a while.
Whether a week is ok or not, I don’t know. But I haven’t been made sick yet.
Besides tea bags (Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast) I don’t keep anything else in my desk.
I bring food for the day, oatmeal in a thermos in the morning, fruit for a snack and some sort of salad or other lunch. I’ve been doing bentos for about a year now and like the cost savings and healthier meals.
OTC meds, chapstick, etc is always in my briefcase and travels with me.
