Running Quicken on a Netbook

by mapgirl on March 31, 2009

Reader Paula asks:
So… did your netbook actually RUN Quicken? I’d heard that the funny resolution means some applications won’t run at all.
I’d be OK with not having several years of data available at the same time on the netbook, personally. I’ll be happy to have one current year’s data at a time, actually.
First, let’s review [...]

Over the holidays my sister made us shepherd’s pie. While I was in San Francisco last week, she made it for me again. It is really tasty stuff and easy to make. It’s also fairly cheap too. Boyfriend usually doesn’t eat meat at home, but he ate the meatarian shepherd’s pie my sister made and [...]

Response to Reader Question on Air Flow

by mapgirl on March 26, 2009

A couple of days ago, Moom asked, “Does the higher air flow reduce fuel consumption?” with regards to K&N filters.
I had to double check this with my boyfriend who tinkers with his car. Higher air flow reduces fuel consumption indirectly. By feeding more oxygen to the internal combustion process, you get more complete burning of [...]

Buying an Air Filter for My Car

by mapgirl on March 20, 2009

I had an interesting experience at Advanced Auto Parts.
I wanted a new air filter. The one I wanted was a Purolator version for $12. But there was a K&N version for $50. I couldn’t understand why that one was so expensive. It couldn’t possibly be that good, or could it?
The salesman at the store demonstrated [...]

Twitterpated

by mapgirl on March 19, 2009

Follow me here on Twitter!

I was reluctant to [...]

by mapgirl on March 18, 2009

One of the benefits of working for a large company is that they offer free financial education courses and advising through a third party company.
A few nights ago, I had my first money coaching session. I don’t think of it as financial advising since they don’t offer specific investments as suggestions, but they talk about [...]
