And this includes a meal in a restaurant!
Since boyfriend is out of town, I am eating through the pantry at his place. I had a can of soup, some orange juice and leftover homemade whole wheat bread, sliced crostini-thin with butter and a pinch of salt. (because the butter was unsalted) Considering that I wasn’t hungry at all and thought about just skipping food altogether, this made a nice painless dinner, albeit probably a little high in sodium, courtesy of Campbell’s (Mmm! Mmm! Good! The Chicken Mushroom Barley flavor is pretty good.)
As for lunch, DC was rockin’ the icy wintry mix yesterday. Even the President thought DC was full of weather wusses. I have *earned* my status by living in California for 5 years, but I have not forgotten how to drive in inclement weather, I just hate cleaning the car off for 20 minutes (Where did my gloves go?). But I digress about the weather, because it was so cold, the guys from work really wanted hot soup, and for us, this either means Panera tomato soup or Vietnamese pho. Pho was perfect. I can make it nice and spicy with a liberal application of rooster sauce and indulge my Korean palate for things like tripe!
Since someone owed me money, he picked up my lunch for me. So that’s another No Spend Day this week! That’s 4 for the year so far!
ps – The homemade whole wheat bread seems to last me a long time (2+ weeks) if I put it in the fridge. I know that’s not recommended, but I don’t like bread going moldy in 3 days. Thus I put it in the fridge after 2. I wrap in plastic wrap first as air-tight as possible and then in foil. The double wrap is key.

why do you double wrap?
Amaranta – I think the bread stays fresher with a double wrap. Even if it was plastic wrap, I’d probably put two layers. For some reason the wrap is not as clingy with bread. I think flour particles stick to it and make it less clingy.
