I went to Jaleo again with work. I tried a Pedro Jimenez for the first time. I’m not a huge fan of sherry, but Jaleo wins because they have appropriate cordial glasses for about $4-5 bucks, depending on the wine. I tried their mussels, a squid with black ink sauce, and their asparagus. I had two dishes I’d had before, the endive with goat cheese, almonds and oranges, the rice with wild mushrooms, and the patatas bravas, but this time cut into chips instead of cubes. It makes for much easier sharing as finger food that way.
It was free because my team was celebrating and the company picked up the tab. WOO HOO! (Add on also another glass of wine. Delicious.)
I also got a free tank of gas. Sort of. I have a rewards credit card that sends out checks and the last check was for $54.99. That was more than enough for a full tank of gas. Literally the low fuel light came on when I started the car at work. I drove to the station near my house that is cheaper, thus saving myself $1.25 for the tank and stupidly risking running out. I don’t know if that was worth it, but I do know that I can make it home to the cheap station from the office.
The only thing I wondered was if I should snowflake the rewards check. I decided to do it because I was actually contemplating sweeping $100 out of my checking to my credit card before depositing the check, but was waffling because I thought I was leaving myself short till payday. So this month, I’ve already sent $1000.00 towards debt reduction!
The last freebie I got last week was a soda at Subway. For some reason, I bought a soda while they were running a Scrabble promotion a few weeks ago. (It’s over now.) I got a game piece on the paper cup and I won a free soda! I almost forgot to redeem it, but I remembered it was in my purse. You could say I got it BOGO, but sometimes it’s nice to say it was ‘free’.
ps – I also got a free lunch on Tuesday after a meeting with the project leaders. The big cheese decided to pick up the tab for us. Yay!
