My Favorite Source For Tax Information

Crud. I thought I posted this last week.

This is a rare Saturday post, but I feel guilty for blowing off the blog while on holiday this week. (And drinking beer at lunch on Friday with my co-workers. Don’t laugh. I’m still doing server maintenance this weekend. I’ve EARNED IT.)

After the IRS website, I love Kay Bell’s blog, Don’t Mess with Taxes.

Recently, Kay was featured on NPR, but she didn’t say a peep about it on her blog. So I will toot her horn here.

OMG! KAY WAS ON NATIONAL RADIO!

It was a piece on year end tax moves and has 4 other resource links you might want to read while you have three days left this year. (Which are gone now because I spaced out over the holidays.)

Mapgirl! thanks for the PR. I finally sneaked in a mention at the end of a year-end tax tip story (just to see if people were actually reading that far!).

I feel so weird being on the radio and, true story, I put off any mention until I was sure I got the host’s name right. We taped on Monday; it ran on Friday. I called the guy at the other end of the headset “John” and then kept hearing “Steve” on the radio. So I was thinking “they’ll never talk to me again if I can’t get something as simple as that right!”

I was so relieved to find out that it was indeed John who was subbing for Steve that week! I obviously need to stick to print only!

Thanks again for the plug. And I agree: you definitely deserved that beer!

I’m a reporter at the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, writing a story about getting your financial house in order in the New Year, and I’m looking for a Maine angle, such as a Mainer who lives a thrifty lifestyle.
