Sir Isaac Newton is My Financial Idol
A new exhibit of his papers in Jerusalem.
More prosaic documents on display show Newton keeping track of his income and expenses while a scholar at Cambridge.
Fancy that. A student mindful of his money.
If you didn’t know. He was also Warden of The Mint and engaged with finding counterfeiters, often wearing disguises to gather evidence.

He also made a bit of money at the start of the South Sea Bubble, then got too greedy and reinvested near the top and ended up losing money. There’s a famouns quote of his:
“I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.”
So I wouldn’t choose him as my Financial Idol

I don’t know about a financial idol, but Newton is a phenomenal idol to have if you’re into math, any kind of science, or technology. Without Calculus the technological progress we have made in the last couple of hundred years would not be possible. Yay Newton! Brilliant man.
