Last week I get an email from a PF Blooger. Let’s meet for dinner. No problem. Turns out Nickel’s going to be in my neck of the woods in Arlington, VA. I rack my brain for a place to eat and hang out that’s going to be good for a bunch of strangers I don’t know. Suddenly I remember, IT’S MONDAY NIGHT! Time for Half-Price Burgers at Whitlow’s! What could be more perfect for a bunch of frugal PF Bloggers?
Ok, so how is everyone going to know me? I pull out a garish pink cowboy hat with homemade decorations. PERFECT. I don’t even have to wear it. I hang it on the corner of a divider and belly up to the bar to start reading a personal finance book I’ve been sent to review. (Look for it next week.)
The best quote of the night comes from our waiter as we start to order, “Pitchers are a good deal. You get more beer for your money.” We all bust out laughing to the point he asks if we’re making fun of him. Priceless.
I had a great time meeting lots of people in person. I’m glad so many folks could turn out on short notice. (No, I can’t count and got the headcount all wrong. Next time, I do this by Evite instead. Gmail threading didn’t work very well for this.)
Without further ado, the attendees:
-H from Binary Dollar
-John from Mighty Bargain Hunter
-Kweee from Punny Money and his wife
-George from Fat Pitch Financials
-Clever Dude
-Rob from Epistolary and his wife
-Jim from Blueprint for Financial Prosperity
-Nickel from Five Cent Nickel

From what I’ve read, it sounds like everyone had a swell time. Yay, Whitlows.
Sadly, I’d not seen any of the forum posts, and missed out. So if you would send me an Evite next time, that would be grand. If nothing else, I REALLY ought to see the cowboy hat.
I’ll be moving back to the DC area (in Alexandria) in March, and I would like to attend when I do. Sounds like fun!
Thanks for organizing the whole thing, LostGirl..I mean MapGirl
I really did have a great time, regardless of whether 10 bloggers were hiking across Clarendon or gabbing about Adsense and TLA in a smoky bar. I learned a lot from everyone, except George, whose every word went completely over my head. I give him props for being so knowledgeable about investing though!
Thanks mapgirl for organizing the meetup this past week. I had a great time meeting all the DC area pf bloggers.
Clever Dude, I guess I need to learn to tone down the jargon. Either that or I’ll have to set up an investment boot camp and get you up to speed. Hmm… I wonder if the pf community is ready for an investment boot camp.
Harumph. We were never lost. I had a gaggle of PF Bloggers who couldn’t tell me if they wanted beer and a loud bar, or coffee and a quiet place for conversation.
i’ll be in the DC area in the fall around September for vacation to see friends. i’d definitely be interested in coming if you’re organizing another one at that time. thanks!!
Sounds like fun, almost wish I’d flown back home a day earlier just to make it. I should be around for the next one if it every happens.
Be even happier if it heads further north. hehe.
hey mapgirl, I emailed you once a few months back… if you ever have a pf gathering in the near future I would love to attend! I’m always looking to meet pf bloggers with different perspectives.. sounds like you all had a lot of fun.
Oh I missed it, would’ve been nice to meet some local bloggers. Please let met know about future events.
Isn’t it freezing out there today?
Bro, Beachgirl: noted for the next one.
Sean: I can’t see your blog and verify where you are. If you are in DC, I will try to invite you.
Anyone else in DC area?
We did all of this offline so ping me here with a comment or send me an email. And “NO, I’m not the bloghostess for meetings. I’m not in charge of anything. You want to talk to Nobody, but I think he moved to Texas.”
