Update to Net Worth
I updated my net worth graph last night. It’s relatively flat. I don’t have much to say about it, other than I’d better stop spending money. A year later, and I’m still not 100% sure where it all goes. Well, I do. It mostly goes to dining out. Frivolities. But strangely, I don’t seem to have a house full of trendy clothes and useless stuff. I try to buy only what I need and less of what I want. My biggest impulse purchases are books, which is good because on Sunday I bought two and read them while I was sick.
Being sick means you don’t spend anything. You’re too SICK. I’ve been coughing up a lung for the last few days and it’s given me some time to think about my raise. I haven’t spent it in my head. I’m just going to save it all. I really want to get back to saving 20% of my salary into my 401k plan. I don’t think I can do that this year because of my medical expenses, but I will definitely be able to push my contribution up.
I also thought some more about my savings goal of another $2K for the Save-O-Meter. I think I will sock some money into that first, $800 this month. If I do that, then I think I will be able with automatic savings to make up the rest of the savings goal by the end of this year. (Paid every two weeks, sock away $50 from each check, approximately 26 paychecks in a year = $1300, thereabouts.)
