Car troubles

by mapgirl on November 13, 2006

It happened about 20 minutes ago tonight.

I was driving in the left lane, trying to pass three cars. There was an Audi on the right that did not see me, even though I was honking on the horn and hitting the brakes. I do not know what they were thinking. It hit me, I riccocheted off the curb/median on the left, but did not swerve back into the right lane. No one stopped.

Luckily, a neighbor was behind me and saw what happened. He passed me and I followed him into the parking lot of our complex and he gave me his information.

I am still shaking.

There is only a dent on the front body panel from what I could see in the dark of our parking log, but that Audi driver is an idiot.

Silver Audi A4. I can’t remember if it was the 1.8T model. VA plates. Don’t remember much else, and neither does my neighbor. But it was between 11:30pm and midnight tonight. Should anyone see that car with a fresh dent on the rear left body panel or bumper, please email me. They were headed southbound on Rt 120 in Arlington, VA.
The main thing I am worried about is filing the police report, and having to ask the insurance company for an appraisal again. If I file another claim, my insurance is going to sky rocket. This is the second claim in a month.

What the heck is going on with hit-and-runs this week!? I’m glad to hear you’re okay – the other one that I heard about in the DC area was car vs. pedestrian, and you can imagine how that turned out. Freakin’ idiots!

If you have not filed a police report on this hit and run, you should!

Glad you are ok.

So sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you are ok. Hopefully, someone will find the idiot and report him/her!!

Thanks everybody. I have decided to file the police report, but I have to go into the station tonight to do it since it happened yesterday. Not much anyone can do though since neither myself, nor the witness saw the license plate. (Though a friend of mine told me to whip out the cameraphone the next time. HIGHLY unlikely I would be able to snap the picture anyway since the GUI of the phone stinks for quick photo taking. And I hate that feature of phones too. I only have it because it was already included.)

Sorry, Mapgirl. What a pain! But I’m glad that you’re okay. My dad was rear ended recently, and he walked away without any bruises or scratches or back injuries. So, much to be thankful for. As for the idiot who hit you, I really hope he feels guilty about it for a good long time. I can’t believe the jerk didn’t stop to see if you were alright. As for the camera phone, yeesh. If you don’t have time to read the license plate, what are the odds that you’d have time to whip out your phone and take a photo?
