I didn’t post today because I was too tired last night to write anything. And then too busy during the day at work to write anything. (which I try not to do anyhow)
But then you see, I counted up how many weekends I’ve given up for my job this year. I’m almost reaching double digits.
‘Give up’ is a small exaggeration. It means setting off a process, then baby sitting it. It still means I can go have a beer and go out and have a life, but it means no out of town weekends without a high speed connection.
I took the opportunity today to remind my boss that I got lowballed with my salary and I think an adjustment is in order.

You have my sympathies. My husband is in the navy, and he’s spending several months’ worth of weekends and holidays away from home and family. The additional compensation for that? $250/month, and only because he’s married.
Is there any way you could draw the line and say “Saturday and Sunday are MINE”? Personally time is more valuable than money, but you may disagree.
Otherwise a raise is definitely in order.
oh. I volunteered it at the beginning, because I’m a ‘team player’. But it’s getting kind of old when I wanted to have a date on Halloween and it very nearly got canceled due to work…
Yes, I could draw the line by quitting. Because there are few left to do the work.
How much is too much for being a team player? What would you do?
Yikes. Few things in life are as discouraging being employed by a life-sucking, low-paying company.
I used to work for a similar type of company. One day I decided that I was outta there…but I just didn’t up and quit (I had a family to look after). I did start seriously looking to get out. The current job was just a means to the end of getting the new job. It took a while, but I managed to escape..and I’ve been employed where I am now for nearly nine years. It’s an awesome company!
So if you aren’t looking for a better opportunity, start. If you already are (which I assume), keep at it. Doors will open to those who knock.
I like your posts…they really are juicy “tidbits”! I wish I could write shorter posts on my blog, but I never seem to be able to!
